Oct. 10, 2013

Congratulations!!

What are SLC’s:
The Student-led Conference format enables students to:
  1. Discuss and showcase your products and processes.
  2. Recognize and accept responsibility for your academic performance.
  3. Increase parent-child communication and encourage open conversation among teachers, students, and parent(s).
  4. Learn and practice the discipline of self-evaluation
You should dress “business casual” for their conference.  You will each lead a 15 minute conference, in which they are expected to discuss each of their classes and provide evidence of their learning and personal growth.

SLC Rubric: Go over as a class
What we will cover in our class: HOHAM and Humanities
Question 1: Discuss one habit that is your greatest strength and gives at least two pieces of supporting evidence.
Brainstorm: Choose 2 you feel you are strongest at. Write them down. Now brainstorm how you would answer that question with bullet points. Write out at least 3-4 pieces of evidence you could use from ANY class to show that what you are saying is true.
Pair share your answers.
Question 2: Discuss one habit that you need to improve in the most and gives at least two pieces of supporting evidence.
Brainstorm: Repeat above protocol.
Pair Share.

Notecard Example: go over as a class. (see specific details)
Prep 1-2 notecards for both of your HOHAM questions. (1-2 per question)
Evidence Gathering: Create a list of the evidence you will need for these questions. Keep this list with your notecards!! If you have access to this evidence get it!

Once you are done with this bring your cards to me! I Must see them in order for you to move on. Homework tonight if you do not finish.
